Cody recognized as a 2018 Readers’ Choice 10 Best Historic Small Town Award by USA Today!

According to the Cody Enterprise, USA Today recently recognized Cody as a 2018 Readers’ Choice 10 Best Historic Small Town award recipient.

“These 10 winners … have big histories and small populations – fewer than 30,000 people as of the last census – making them fun and affordable ways to dive into our nation’s past,” reads the  10best.com.

A panel of travel writers with knowledge of and experience traveling in the United States along with USA Today’s 10 Best editors picked the initial 20 nominees. The top 10 picks representing America’s “rich and exciting” history were then determined by popular vote.

“Founded in 1896 by the legendary Buffalo Bill himself, the town of Cody sits just 50 miles from the east entrance to Yellowstone National Park, making it a popular gateway for park goers,” the judges wrote of the town listed seventh of the 10 top selections. “The Rodeo Capital of the World offers a colorful downtown filled with steak houses, cowboy apparel shops, historic hotels and Old West saloons.”

Topping the list is Tarpon Springs, Fla. It is followed by Natchitoches, La.; Haddonfield, N.J.; Williamsburg, Va.; Natchez, Miss.; Dodge City, Kan.; Cody; Solvang, Calif.; Bath, Maine; and Madison, Ga.
